Urban Corridors + Connectors

Sharjah, a lesser known city of the United Arab Emirates, is known for its dense and tall apartment buildings that houses the majority of employees in Dubai. This is becuase of its cheaper rent and close proximity to the city of Dubai. Cheaper land prices have also made Sharjah a city for many industrial practices. The sudden demand for housing also led to physical infrastructure being built without any planning. The city is also the capital culture of the country because of its various culural centers that surround the corniche. These dominant land uses have made Sharjah a city for consumption of ease. The city faces hot and arid weather which can be seen in its lack of open green spaces.

This project aims to raise a provocation on the structuring of the already exisiting dense residential towers and raises the question: can we connect the similar typologies of residences to create more open green spaces and communal spaces?
