Bogota or formerly known as Santa Fe de Bogota is the capital city of Colombia, and has the largest population. It is located on the Bogota savanna which is the high plateau in the Andes. The flatlands are clearly visible in the topography and the result of the Pleistocene lake; Lake Humboldt, that existed until around 30,000 years BP. The city is divided into 20 localities or districts. Each location is further divided into neighborhoods.

Puente Aranda, Bogota

Puente Aranda currently has a population of 231,090 people and a total site area of
354,681.24 sqm. The current neighborhood amenities, one small private Gym, two private
schools, and two small parks. The rest of the neighborhood is composed of low-rise residential
buildings averaging from one story for the lowest up to 4 stories for the tallest. Most of
these residential buildings, especially those adjacent to the street, were turned into family-
owned businesses that have predominantly commercialized the area.

An urban plan for housing and retail will be blended with the existing urban fabric of lowrise
residential homes on three lots covering 4,277.71 sqm. These lots are located near two
green areas which makes the site ideal for the incorporation of public and semi-private
spaces. The additions will consist of stacked modular units consisting of residential units on
the top, mixed-used private and public amenities such as a public gymnasium, and laundry
services in the middle units supported by commercial spaces along a public library which
will be conveniently located near existing schools and busy trafficked streets.

The modular units inspired by the city’s skyline and open voids within the urban fabric, created
new exterior spaces such as green roofs, and public restaurants with beautiful views of
the city grid.
